Very Common Flowers in south India

Jasmine

We keralites call this "Mullappoo", Milk white in color and they are widely cultivated  for the fragrance of their flowers. It spread a unique and enthusiastic aroma. These plants are from olive families. You can see different varieties of jasmine all over south india.
Hindu families of kerala , Tamilnadu and Karnataka can't think  a marriage  without Jasminum. We use this flower to decorate brides hair, even we used to make haram with it.In Tamilnadu they used to wear  jasmine every day.I remember, one friend of mine who went Tamilnadu for his higher education told me "When we reach class, the rooms are filled with jasmines fragrance, because of the tamil Ladies pinned the flower on their hair" . I guess jasmine is like a part of their life.  It is used in temples as well. Also there are a lots of beauty benefits  with it. There are different brands have  jasmine perfumes with its real fragrance and i loved to use them.
